Buildering (also known as edificeering, urban climbing, structuring, or stegophily) describes the act of climbing on the outside of buildings and other artificial structures. While it can be done in any urban area, the tall quartzite towers of Middlebury College, along with the easy approaches and free dining hall food, make a Midd one of the finest buildering destinations in New England. Whether you're the 'born out west, missing your local crag, alpine crusher', the 'drunk boulder rat looking to impress your friends', or the 'new to climbing freshman without gear, a car, or an in to Midd's climbing community'--buildering is for you. All routes can be found on Middlebury College's campus.
